Whats your favourite Promotion Technique?

Im always a fan of buying advertisement on forums, but i always go out the way for a big deal and see what i can get for nothing. Lately ive been using myspace advertisment with bulletins, its good if your looking for proxy/upload/generator site traphic but for anything professional its bad traphic and could give you problems.

On forums are you charged less per 1K impressions etc because if the ads are at the header or something there always displaying and going to cost you more. The only way I can see someone getting a good deal on a forum is buying a set 1 week and then recording stats from that.

I prefer to hold a small contest at a local electronics store for a free website template and that i pick a winner from all the entries and give them a custom website template and with the other entries i send them all an offer through the mail for a 1hour free consultation and usually pick up 5-10 clients and around 3-6 buy but most of these folks dont go for websites they mainly want presentations and flyers and such made for tradeshows which i do or the need a website that runs only on their local lan and cant be accesed from outside so that brings in a good amount of clients

Yea im a new name to the professional world before i did a bit of freelance work here and there still not a big name online working mainly for ppl i know but im planning to run like this for about 1.5-2 years so i have a large network of people that can refrence me before making a website for my biz but for now a small office in my dads medical building works fine cuz both my parents are dos and gave me a little room in their med building to work. and all that other good stuff.
