Well i converted over to CSS based design about two months ago and im loving it. Its awesome to see that you can lay out a whole site with such a small amount of code, and the amount of control you have with CSS is amazing - you can place anything almost anywhere.
So for those of you that haven't yet taken the leap into CSS you might be thinking why bother? Well for me there were a few reasons that pulled me in. Search Engine optimization is much more successful (ive found anyway) for sites ive developed in CSS. This is because the code is cleaner and you can use header tags, combined with image replacement amoungst other techniques. As mentioned above you get more control. You can float elements and position them pretty much anywhere you want. You can also manage your sites much more effectively from external stylesheets. Changing the colours of all your navigation links might have taken you an hour before you used CSS to manage your styles. Now you can just change that element in your stylesheet and its changed across your entire site! Whats your experience with CSS and your views on it? |

CSS is quite an easy language to learn and it is quite amazing at the garguantuan amount of work that can be done with such a small amount of code, I would highly recommend it to every coder in the world and anyone else that is begining coding currently. I still have my first css based site online (http://www.freewebs.com/pssupport2/#) it is a very organized language and in my field my company does a lot of intranets for companies to keep information within the building and to prevent it from outside access and in designing portals for various users of diffrent permisson levels CSS is a blessing because it completes close to 80% of the work for you. If you are a coder i would say learn CSS or you will be out of a job very very soon. When IWS hires coders to join our firm we look first at weather they know XHTML than CSS. so learn css

Sadly, I don't know how to use CSS, I am looking into finding out things like this as it is a useful tool to know. I am also looking to tune up my HTML skills (although they are already good) and I am also looking to learn PHP.
Could anyone give some advice on how to learn CSS? Thanks - EchoZ (Ryan) |

I think everyone now a days should be able to use CSS. It makes designing a site so much easier and the amount of control you have with it allows you to create your designs exactly to your specifications.
It is easy to learn, it is not so much a language as a style? |
