E-commerce Setup.

Hello,

I'm currently developing an online store that will require users to trust the site with their credit card information. I've worked with Paypal before but since I'm a developer... why not look into securing the shop myself and saving my client an extra 2% while adding to my web knowledge. I don't want to sacrifice any security. I've started researching it, looks like I may need an SSL certificate. Does anyone have experience with this topic in general and/or have a good resource to learn more about it? I may take a trip to Borders later today.
